Mandarin Chinese is offered currently to Years 9 and 12 students.

The aims of the Chinese Course in Year 9 are to prepare students to be the modern 21st century citizen with cross-cultural and Chinese language skills.
It is intended to cater for students with no prior knowledge or experience of the Chinese language, either spoken or written. Students will learn Chinese words, expressions, grammatical structures and Chinese culture within the prescribed topics in the syllabus. They will demonstrate their knowledge, understanding and skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing in Chinese. By the end of this course, students will develop the linguistic and intercultural knowledge, understanding and skills to communicate actively in Chinese in interpersonal situations. Students will be able to interpret and respond to texts, applying their knowledge and understanding of language and culture. They are able to create and present texts in Chinese for specific audiences, purposes and contexts. This will be a fun language learning course incorporated with motivate cultural activities such as Chinese calligraphy, songs and rhymes, paper folding and cutting, cooking, Martial Arts and dancing etc.
